Blake Shelton got his sixth win as a coach on The Voice when Chloe Kohanski won the competition last Tuesday (12/19).
Season 13 had its share of amazing artists and Chloe was one of them. Following the announcement of the winner after the live season finale of The Voice, Blake and Chloe were asked questions by members of the entertainment press.
When asked if Blake thought Chloe was a superstar, Blake responded, “I truly think Chloe can go on from here and become really the … first star that we’ve had come out of this show that can have some hit songs.”
He then elaborated on her abilities by saying, “How do you ignore her voice? How do you not want to own a record that has her voice on it?” Blake explained, “Something’s wrong with you if you don’t want that.”
Another reporter asked Chloe if she thought that her time on the show was over when Miley Cyrus didn’t choose her in the Knockout Rounds to remain on her team. “You don’t bank on getting the steal,” she replied.
She then continued on to recall having to decide between Blake and Jennifer Hudson who both wanted to steal her because she “had no plan because Miley was my only plan.”
How did she decide on choosing Blake as her new coach? “I’ve gotta look for something I can relate to,” Chloe explains she thought in those seconds she had to decide.
“From the few comments Blake had made to me and hearing about him as a person,” she elaborates, “‘Cause I’m from Nashville, so I’ve heard of you {looking at Blake} outside of The Voice. I’ve heard of you just from word of mouth, just people speaking out on your behalf and they speak highly of you.”
Chloe then recalls making the decision, “I’m gonna go with Blake even though this makes no sense on paper. But it works you know. I think it works.”
“No, actually it worked,” Blake added with a smile.
When asked what would be the next thing she wanted to do now that she won the competition, Chloe responded, “First thing I want to do is make a record. And then I wanna plan, you know, a tour.”
