Today is a great #ThrowBackThursday for the country music duo Brothers Osborne.
T.J. and John Osborne can point to this date in 2015 as the day the sibling duo’s career really began to move forward. That was the day their single “Stay A Little Longer” was certified GOLD by the RIAA to mark sales of 500,000 copies.
T.J. explains the songs vibe from the time and how it represents what he and his brother are as a duo, “It kind of happened naturally. With this kind of natural flow of it being this kind of almost sad, kind of balladish kind of feeling song in the verses, and then it kind of ramps up by the time you’re in the choruses, and it’s like a really fun, it almost gives it almost like a party vibe to it, and then it ends with this wailing guitar solo in it,” he shares. “For us, it does represent all these different things we do because we don’t like to play the same thing over and over and over.”
Just over a month after the single was certified gold, in late January of 2016, “Stay A Little Longer” became Brothers Osborne’s first #1 single.
Since those career milestone events, Brothers Osborne has been nominated for CMA, ACM, CMT and Grammy Awards. They have also won some of those awards including the CMA Award for Vocal Duo of The Year in both 2016 and 2017 and the ACM Award for Vocal Duo of the Year in 2017.
The brothers received another Grammy nomination for this year’s upcoming awards show for Best Country Duo/Group Performance for their song “It Ain’t My Fault.” We will find out if they win that award January 28, 2018 during the live broadcast of the 60th Annual Grammy Awards on CBS from New York City’s Madison Square Garden 6:30-10 PM central time (7:30-11 PM eastern time).
Since this date two years ago Brothers Osborne has also released their debut album titled Pawn Shop which has also been certified GOLD for sales of 500,000 copies.
Yeah, in the two years since this date in 2015 Brothers Osborne has achieved a lot in their career that began with that GOLD certification for “Stay A Little Longer” making today a great #ThrowBackThursday for the brothers. It will be interesting to see what career accomplishments the duo achieve in the next two years.
