Kelsea Ballerini made the choice to go back to her hometown high school to kick off the album release week for her sophomore album Unapologetically.
Kelsea’s new album debuted at #2 this week on the Billboard Country Album sales chart. She did a lot of things to help promote the release of the album especially the week leading up to the November 3rd release date.
She chose to head back to her hometown of Knoxville, Tennessee to kick off the release week for Unapologetically.
Why did Kelsea want to go back to Central High School (CHS) in Knoxville for a concert to kick off the album release week? “You know those places in your life that you can’t really describe there’s just a magic about it,” Kelsea shares, “that’s that school for me.”
She explains what happened to her while attending CHS, “I was there for two years,” Keslea recalls, “It was right before I moved to Nashville. It was just really like two life-defining years for me. It was the two years where I really think I grew up.”
What significance was it to the young country music singer-songwriter to perform a concert on the stage at CHS? “That stage was the first time I ever played a song that I’d written for anyone onstage,” Kelsea confesses. “It was the first that I was in a musical. I mean, it was just a really important place for me.”
What did it mean to Kelsea to start the release week for her sophomore album at CHS in Knoxville? “To be able to kick off the release of my album there,” Kelsea says, “I feel like it’s the most pure form of starting chapter two.”
A fan in attendance at the concert shared a video of Kelsea performing the title track from her new album that you can watch at the top of the page.
