Last night (10/25) was Kenny Rogers‘ farewell concert before retiring and Dolly Parton joined him on stage to sing their iconic song “Islands In The Stream” for possibly the last time ever.
Mega star and music icon Kenny Rogers is now officially retired. He performed his final concert last night at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena. The vent was dubbed “All In For The Gambler: Kenny Rogers’ Farewell Concert Celebration” and was a star-studded event.
The concert featured appearances by stars like the Oak Ridge Boys, Justin Moore, Billy Currington, Reba, Wynonna Judd, Hillary Scott, Lionel Richie, Lady Antebellum, Little Big Town and more.
Of course the highlight of the evening was when Kenny’s long-time duet partner and fellow icon Dolly joined him on stage. Dolly sang her iconic song “I Will Always Love You” to Kenny and the two then joined voices on their iconic duet “Islands In The Stream.” The video below is the two singing together and the next video is Dolly singing to Kenny followed again by their collaborative performance.
This was Kenny’s final concert, thus we can deduce it was the last time we will get to see these two music icons combine voices. Perhaps not! Dolly and Kenny walked the red carpet to the event last night together. They revealed that although Kenny is retiring the two friends will surely get together in the future and they will likely sing when that happens. You can hear their comments in our #JustAMinute podcast below.
The only question is whether or not that singing will be done in public or made available to the public. We can only hope.
