Monday (10/2) a GoFundMe page was set as a Las Vegas Victim’s Fund and the amount raised is nearing $10 million!

The tragic mass shooting at the Route 91 Harvest Festival Sunday night (10/1) claimed the lives of 58 people and wounded around 500 more people. The fund was set up by Clark County Commission Chair Steve Sisolak to provide “relief and financial support to the victims and families of the horrific Las Vegas mass shooting.”

Over 79,000 people have made donations to the fund since Monday. Most donations have come from every day people in amounts of 5, 10, 20 dollars and the like. However, those who have the means have donated thousands and even tens of thousands of dollars.

While the vast majority of donors have been from people like me and you, some celebrities have also made donations.

Las Vegas native and headliner Wayne Newton and his wife made a $100,000 donation. Pop stars The Chainsmokers donated $10,000 as did multi-genre star Kid Rock.

Country stars Florida Georgia Line (pictured on the right) not only made a $10,000 donation, they issued a friendly challenge to some of their friends to do the same. Just before I wrote this blog I checked and Luke Bryan and The Backstreet Boys answered that challenge and have donated $10,000 apiece.

It makes sense that the largest donation to date has come from Jim Murren & MGM Resorts International with a $3 million donation to the fund.

While these large donations from celebrities and the like are amazing, I want to again point out that the vast majority of donations have come from ordinary people in quite small amounts by comparison. However, those small individual amounts have come together to make a massive difference!

As I write this blog the total raised for the victims in Las Vegas is $9,693,494! That money will go to the victims to help with medical bills and sadly many funeral costs.

There were heroes at the concert when the shooting began. There were heroes after the shooting ended helping with the wounded. There are heroes still making donations to help those who have been devastated by these tragic events.

God Bless the victims and their families. God Bless the heroes who helped. God Bless every person who has donated what they can to help. God Bless Las Vegas. God Bless the United States of America.
