Last night Keith Urban, Vince Gill, Alison Krauss, Amy Grant, and more joined the Nashville community in remembrance of the lives lost in Las Vegas at the 91 Harvest Country Music Festival Sunday night.
Jason Aldean was on stage at the time of the shooting, and hours earlier, Jake Owen, Chris Young, Big & Rich and many more took the very same stage for a show that became of the scene of what they are calling the deadliest mass shooting in United States history.
Vince Gill took the stage to perform “Go Rest High on That Mountain” before his wife Amy Grant joined him and asked every one for a moment of silence before she led a prayer.
Keith Urban shared a moment between he and his children before he performed an emotional cover of “Bridge Over Troubled Water”…
“I started this morning by finding out about it and being shell-shocked all morning, getting my kids ready for school. My 9-year-old, as I was driving her to school this morning, said to me, ‘Dad, you seem quiet.’ I said, ‘Yeah, a lot of people [were] killed last night.’ She said, ‘Did you know any of them?’ and I said, ‘Not that I know of.’ Then she said, ‘Then why are you so sad?’ I said, ‘First of all, these were innocent people horrifically taken, and secondly, they’re like family.’ It’s the one thing about country music that’s always been the center of it…it is community. So I did know those people, in that way.”
Alison Krauss followed with an incredibly moving performance of “Amazing Grace.”
Over 600 people showed up in Nashville last night to show their support of the victims and their families at the Ascend Amphitheater in Nashville.
I’m glad so many people came together for the opportunity to lift those up that needed it. Our thoughts and prayers remain with families and friends of the innocent lives lost and injured in this horrific tragedy. #PrayForVegas.
