Rodents of unusual size…you remember this scene from the Princess Bride right?

This week marked the 30th anniversary of The Princess Bride hitting theaters in 1987. So it only makes sense that a story of REAL GIANT RATS came out this week too.

According to National Geographic, the people of the Soloman Islands have been telling people for decades that giant rats live in the trees. Well…they found one.

The rodent of unusual size was killed when the tree it was in was chopped down, but a quick thinking Ranger knew that the creature was something scientists needed to see!

The thing weighed more than 2 pounds and was over 1 1/2 feet long…

It is, quite literally, a giant rat.
