Dustin Lynch has spent a lot of 2017 out on Brad Paisley‘s “Weekend Warrior Tour” and became friends with him over cigars and guitars.

Dustin’s career has really been picking up this year. Dustin’s latest single “Small Town Boy” has become his fifth consecutive #1 single and is spending a third week in a row at the top of the Billboard Country Airplay chart this week.

The song is the second #1 single out of two released off his third studio album Current Mood that debuted at #2 on the Billboard Country Album sales chart and #7 on the Billboard 200 all-genre chart.

Now most of the credit goes to Dustin himself for all of his hard work and dedication to his career. However, some of that success might have to be credited to those people he has chosen as mentors in his life and career. Enter one of the most prolific and talented artists in country music, Brad.

Dustin has surly been learning from Brad on tour, but Dustin reveals that he has bonded with Brad along the way as well. He says that the two singer-songwriter-musicians kind of geek’d out over what musical artists geek out over, “You know just nerd-ed out on gear and guitar and you know.”

Dustin revealed that he also got to hear some very cool stories from Brad about those who blazed the country music trail before him. “We’ve sat around and smoked cigars and talked about this Opry member or that Opry member,” Dustin admits, “It’s just really, really cool stuff.”

For Dustin getting to hear the stories about the legends that he will never get the chance to know the way Brad did was very special, “He’s been very close with you know, Little Jimmy and the likes. So hearing those stories has been really neat.”

Congratulations to Dustin Lynch on his well-deserved success and thanks to Brad Paisley for passing along the knowledge and heritage of country music to the future superstars of the genre.
