Gary LeVox, Jay DeMarcus and Joe Don Rooney of the trio Rascal Flatts spend a lot of the time on tour. What do they do when they have a day off on the road?
Just like almost every country music act Gary, Jay and Joe Don see the world from the window of a tour bus week in and week out. While the travel is extensive from show to show, there are those days that they get a break from the touring schedule.
Jay explains that the guys always find something for fun on those days off on the road. “We might go play a round of golf and sometimes we’ll go see a movie, you know if the weather is bad or something like that.” he shares. “We’re always finding something to do to pass the time.”
Rascal Flatts has been doing their thing for nearly two decades now. That is a long time to spend with the band members and crew on tour buses and backstage at concert venues.
“You know the one thing about your band and crew is you have to be able to exist together and live in tight quarters too,” Jay confesses.
The band has surrounded themselves with good people over the years and that makes the tight living conditions easier to handle. “We’re blessed to have some really, really great people that have been with us,” Jay states, “A few of them have been there nearly from the beginning and they’re still there.”
In the 17 years Rascal Flatts has been around they have released 10 studio albums including their current release Back To Us. They have scored 13 number one singles with their current single getting close to being the next chart topper.
The current single from Rascal Flatts is titled “Yours If You Want It” and is currently in the #3 spot on the country radio airplay singles charts and still climbing. Listen for it on B104.
Gary, Jay and Joe Don are currently spending time with their band and crew on the Rascal Flatts “Rhythm & Roots Tour 2017” with special guest Lauren Alaina. Find out where the tour will be stopping here.
