Luke Combs‘ debut single “Hurricane” patiently waited for the time to blow into the #1 spot and that time has finally come.

For the past few weeks Sam Hunt has been parked at the top of the country singles charts with his song “Body Like A Back Road.” During that time Luke has been stuck in the runner-up spot on the charts.

This week’s advance charts show that Luke has finally moved to the number one spot on the Billboard Country Radio Airplay and Mediabase/Country Aircheck singles charts with his debut release.

The song is from Luke’s debut album This One’s For You scheduled to drop June 2nd.

Luke co-wrote the song with Thomas Archer and Taylor Phillips. Luke recalls writing the song, “We were just talking about friends, and Nashville, and stuff like that…I don’t know who it was, somebody got to talking about they had a friend that was dating somebody, and they had broken up, and was like they both lived in Nashville. If you’ve ever been here you know you run into everybody you ever met just going out one night, and I guess their buddy was saying ‘Man I just don’t want to go out I don’t want to see her’ you know kind of thing because they had broken up and I said ‘Man let’s merge this idea with this title ‘Hurricane’ I had thrown out’.”

Congratulations to Luke Combs on his number one for his debut single “Hurricane.”
