Maren Morris says that her collaboration with Thomas Rhett on the song “Craving You” could have been just a solo performance by the male artist.

The latest single from the reigning ACM Male Vocalist of the Year featuring the reigning ACM New Famle Vocalist of the Year had the live debut performance on the night the two country music sing-songwriters received their awards at the 52nd ACM Awards Show April 2nd.

The song itself has climbed into the top 20 on the Billboard Country Radio Airplay singles chart in the five weeks since its release sitting at #18 this week.

Maren thinks that the song could have been just as good with Thomas Rhett recording it as a solo performance.

“It wouldn’t have occurred to me to put a female voice on it because it just makes sense from the man’s point of view,” Maren admits, “but. I loved that he wanted to add that in there.”

Maren talks about the fact that the song is not a duet from beginning to end, but likes the way it is structured as she shares, “It’s not a full on duet and we don’t really market it as such, but it’s definitely cool to have that sort of back and forth female/male perspective on the song.”

While Maren believes the song could stand on its own as a solo performance by Thomas Rhett, she is grateful to get to be a part of it and that fans are embracing the collaboration. “I’m just so excited the fans are pumped about it because I think our fan bases are really similar,” Maren shares.

The music video for “Craving You” by Thomas Rhett featuring Maren Morris will be released tomorrow, May 4th. You can see a couple of teaser clips that have been released through social media below.

The song will be included on Thomas Rhett’s yet-to-be titled third studio album that will be released later this year.
