Country singer-songwriter Luke Combs is in a battle to take his debut single “Hurricane” to number one. What does he think of his chances of getting there?
Luke’s song is at #3 on the Mediabase/Country Aircheck singles chart this week. Ahead of it on that chart is Josh Turner “Hometown Girl” at #1 and Sam Hunt “Body Like A Back Road” at #2.
Sam is at #1 on the Billboard Country Radio Airplay singles chart and Josh is at #2 with Jason Aldean’s recent chart topper “Any Ol’ Barstool” on its way down at #3 on that chart. That puts Luke at #4 on the Billboard chart.
It is more likely that Luke could get to number one on the Country Aircheck chart since it has less songs to pass on that chart. What does he think of his chances of getting there?
“I gotta fight this guy I’ve never heard of him, Sam Hunt,” Luke says jokingly before he admits, “I can’t beat that guy.”
He continues, “I wanna make his body look like a back road. No, I’m just kidding. I love that song and obviously you know, hanging behind Sam that’s pretty good company up there.”
Luke knows that the path his debut single has been traveling is pretty rare. “It’s been a crazy ride so far with this tune and here we are debut single Top Five, my first Top Five and it’s just so cool.”
There is no doubt that Luke is grateful for the fans and everybody involved with his musical career helping make his debut single a success, “I would have honestly never imagined that I would be here,” he shares, “But, it is definitely the culmination of a lot of hard work, so I’m very thankful for it.”
Congratulations to Luke Combs on an already very successful debut single. Good luck getting “Hurricane” those final few spots to number one!
