Sam Hunt and Josh Turner have each scored #1 songs on this week’s country radio singles charts.
Sam’s latest single “Body Like A Back Road” is at the top of the advanced Billboard Country Radio Airplay singles chart for this week. The song is from the forthcoming sophomore album from Sam that has yet to be titled.
“It’s a lighthearted song that was a lot of fun to write,” Sam says about his latest #1 single. “I’ve been writing songs that, over the past I guess year and a half trying to conceptualize a new record and it kinda started taking a heavy direction and I sat down at one point and was like, ‘Okay I’m gonna lighten this up a little bit. It sort of swings and hopefully it’s easy to listen to and will put a smile on some folks face.”
The song has reached the top of the chart in just 12 weeks! “Body Like A Back Road” has not only given Sam his fifth number one single, it also has set the record as the most streamed country song, ever.
The advanced Mediabase/Country Aircheck singles chart shows Josh Turner’s latest single “Hometown Girl” in the number one spot for this week. It is from Josh’s current #1 album Deep South that is available everywhere.
Josh says of deciding to record the song, “It was different for me, and that’s kind of what I was looking for. I was looking for those songs that I felt like that would be different for me that or things that I hadn’t done really yet, but still had those Josh Turner ingredients, which is basically a lyric that tells a story that has a good message and just has a melody that caters to my voice. It had all that, and so it was just kind of a no-brainer.”
“Hometown Girl” gives Josh his fifth number one song of his career and marks his first return to top of the country radio singles charts since 2010’s chart topper “All Over Me.”
