Eric Church made the decision that his 2017 “Holdin’ My Own Tour” would NOT have any opening acts.
With no opening acts, Eric does the whole show with a short intermission between two sets with just himself and his band.
This new style tour for Eric means the fans get more of him, but he also admits that it means there is a lot more work for him to do. The singer-songwriter says that he relies on his fans to help him get through the long shows.
“There are those nights, I mean, when I really do rely on the fans ‘cause there are those nights when you walk out for that first song and you see a set list that’s got 38 or 39 on ‘em, I mean, you’re in for a night,” he says.
We have all heard singers tell the audience that the more they get into the music the more the band will get into it. Eric says that with this tour it really is what happens, “You kind of get into the show and you start feeling the crowd and you start playing off of them,” Eric shares, “and then it just starts to kind of take over and you really, it becomes its own living, breathing thing.”
I can only imagine that Eric was both excited and a little apprehensive about trying this solo tour before it kicked off. However, it seems obvious that since it started Eric is glad he took the risk of doing it, “I don’t know that I’ve ever experienced that before,” he admits, “You know, where the show kind of becomes something that … it’s alive.”
Eric is bringing his “Holdin’ My Own Tour” to the Peoria Civic Center, Friday, May 12th. Get concert and ticket details here. Keep listening to B104 to find out how you can win tickets to the concert!
