The 52nd ACM Awards Show is this Sunday, April 2nd on CBS and some of the biggest names in country music talk about their nominations.

The Academy of Country Music’s (ACM) annual awards show will again take place in Las Vegas and be broadcast live 8/7 central on CBS Sunday night.

The biggest and brightest names in country music will converge for the “week that Vegas goes country” for “Country Music’s Party of the Year®.” Here is what four of the superstars of country music have to say about the ACM Awards…

Luke BryanLuke Bryan will co-host the awards show again this year. He is also nominated for Entertainer of the Year. Luke reveals his thoughts on being a co-host and nominee, “At that point when you’re hosting the show, it’s so far from your mind on really…Like, a lot of times, I mean, I don’t even know who’s out there winning each category. I mean, it’s just…you know, sometimes you’re just so immersed with making sure you don’t look like an idiot on national TV. And so, yeah, when the categories come around, you know, you’re kinda [like], ‘Oh my god, what do I [do].’ And then you get…hopefully they put you where you can smile and wave at the camera.”

Carrie UnderwoodCarrie Underwood is a multiple nominee including Entertainer of the Year. Even as big a star as she is, Carrie is still grateful for the recognition, “We’ve been just putting together just the best tours, and worked so hard for a long time and you know I’m specially proud of the Storyteller tour I’m just beyond excited, and I’m humbled, and thankful for that nomination. It’s incredible.”

Keith UrbanKeith Urban leads the nominations for this year’s ACM Awards with seven. One of the night’s biggest awards is Album of the Year and Keith’s album ripCORD is one of the music projects up for the honor. “I love making music I love making records,” he confesses as he talks about his nominated album, “I really do, and I’m curious and passionate and hungry about where my art can go. That’s really what drives me completely and it’s what made ripCORD.”

Kenny ChesneyKenny Chesney has been nominated and has won many awards during his career. He is up for Vocal Event of the Year for his collaboration with Pink! titled “Setting The World On Fire.” Kenny shares his thoughts about doing duets, “I’ve done a lot of duets…whether it was with Willie Nelson or Dave Matthews or Uncle Kracker or Jimmy Buffet, I sang with George Strait, Grace Potter. I’ve done a lot, OK, and every time I’m very proud to say that the song was the reason for the collaboration. Sometimes we hear collaborations that start with the idea of them singing together, but they don’t have the song.” Kenny says he followed the correct path for his nominated song, “In my opinion, you have to have a song first, which was the case with Pink!. So, I sent her the song, and she loved the melody, and loved the song and what it said and next thing you know we’re in the studio.”

Good luck to Luke, Carrie, Keith, Kenny and all of the nominees this year. We’ll be watching to see who wins and enjoying all of the performances during the 52nd ACM Awards this Sunday, April 2nd 8/7 central live on CBS co-hosted by Luke Bryan and Dierks Bentley.
