Last night (2/28) was the premiere of The Voice Season 12. Which artists chose to join Team Blake during the Blind Auditions?
Before we answer that question, I want to address another question that was answered last night. This is the first season for the combination of Adam Levine, Gwen Stefani, Alicia Keys and Blake Shelton as coaches on the show together.
It is my opinion that the chemistry and interaction between the coaches is a huge part of how good the show is each season. It is also my opinion that some of the coaching combinations have been much better than others through the first 11 seasons.
Based on last night’s premiere of season 12 and this combination of coaches, it is my belief that this could be one of the most entertaining seasons of The Voice ever.
Now back to Team Blake and who chose Blake as their coach in the first night of Blind Auditions. Blake returns to season 12 as the reigning winning coach as well as the most-winning coach on the show. He and his pointing finger got back to the work of building his team for the new season of the show with the goal of winning back-to-back seasons and bringing his total number of wins to six which would be half of the seasons the show has aired.
Lauren Duski grew up in Michigan, but reveals that she moved to Nashville a couple of years ago to pursue her musical dreams. The 25-year-old put her own touch to the song “You Were Meant For Me” by Jewel and it was enough to motivate Adam, Blake and Gwen to push their buttons. I really thought that Gwen made the most passionate plea for Lauren to join her team and felt like that could have won her over. However, Lauren chose Blake Shelton as her coach.
Next it was Brennley Brown from California to take the stage. The 14-year-old put her style to work on the song “Stupid Boy” by Keith Urban. Blake and Alicia pushed their buttons at close to the last minute of the performance. After her performance, Bennley revealed that growing up she was influenced by artists like Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard and Faith Hill. This put the pressure on Alicia to convince the young singer to join her team instead of Blake’s. Both coaches fought hard to add Brennley to their own team. While Alicia made it a more difficult decision to make, ultimately Brennley followed her country music roots and decided to join Team Blake.
Each of the teams ended season 12 premiere night with a pair of artists. You can see which artists the other coaches have on their teams at the official website of NBC The Voice here.
The Blind Auditions for season 12 of The Voice continue tonight for one hour starting at 7:00 PM central time (8:00 PM eastern time) on NBC TV.
