UPDATE – 1/17/17:
Carrie DID score the #1 song on this week’s Mediabase/Country Aircheck singles chart.

My source at her record label tells me that while she had the plays to be number one on the Billboard Country Radio Airplay chart, the weighting of the markets for the chart actually makes Blake Shelton’s “A Guy With A Girl” #1 for this week on the Billboard chart.

That does not take the historic 25th #1 away from Carrie though. Congrats to her on that and we’ll all hope that the song gets the deserved Billboard #1 next week!

Carrie Underwood hung out the “Dirty Laundry” and it became her latest #1 single as of this week!

This week the advanced country radio singles charts show that “Dirty Laundry” is number one on both the Billboard and Mediabase/Country Aircheck charts.

While Carrie writes most of her own music, this song was written by  Hillary Lindsey, Ashley Gorley and Zach Crowell. Carrie says she was instantly enamored with the song. “I was immediately drawn to ‘Dirty Laundry’ the first time I heard it, because it was so different, it had such a laid-back kind of vibe to it,” she shares.

“Yes it’s a … it’s a cheatin’ song, this is country music after all,” Carrie admits, “But, it was kind of done in a different way, and I just really, I love the groove of the music.”

Carrie also heard something specific in the song’s lyrics that really grabbed her attention, “I love that kind of AJAX line because it was kind of weird and cool and I just, I loved it from the first listen.”

“Dirty Laundry” becomes the 4th chart topping single from Carrie’s latest #1 album Storyteller. The fifth studio album from the reigning CMA Female Vocalist of the Year was also one of the best-selling albums of 2016, even though it was released in 2015.

What is an even bigger milestone is that the song becomes Carrie’s 25th #1 single of her career. That is huge because it brings her to a tie on top of the list of all-time number one singles by a female country music artist.

Who is she tied with? Well, that is an accomplishment as well since Carrie has as many #1 singles as country music icons Dolly Parton and Reba McEntire. Legends Tammy Wynette (20) and Crystal Gayle (19) and next on the all-time list to create to top five. (Source: Wikipedia.com)
