Florida Georgia Line (FGL) has hit #1 with the collaboration with Tim McGraw while Brett Young has scored a #1 with his debut single!
FGL’s Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard always wanted to record a song with Tim McGraw. They were able to check that off their bucket list when Tim joined them for the song “May We All” that can be found on their current #1 album Dig Your Roots. The advanced Billboard Country Airplay singles charts shows that collaboration in the number one spot for this week.
“His voice on that song brings that country music, man,” FGL’s Brian Kelley says of Tim’s participation on the song. “When he comes in on that second verse, everyone starts giggling. I mean it gives me goose bumps and it’s really, really crazy because we grew up on Tim. I feel like he’s just now getting started too at the same time, you know. So, he brings kinda that stamp of approval. It’s a good feeling. It’s humbling. Country radio, it seems like they’re digging it. It’s a big ol’ anthem and it’s really cool to have our childhood hero on it. It’s unbelievable.”
The song becomes FGL’s 12th consecutive chart topping single out of 12 released to date. The song becomes Tim’s 29th career #1 song.
FGL is bringing their 2017 “Dig Your Roots Tour” with special guests Dustin Lynch and Chris Lane to the State Farm Center in Champaign, Illinois February 23, 2017. Get complete concert and ticket details here.
The advanced Mediabase/Country Aircheck singles chart has also been released and it is Brett Young’s debut song “Sleep Without You” that has leapfrogged FGL to reach the top spot for this week. The song is from Brett’s self-titled EP.
Brett not only recorded the song, but he also wrote the song. “When you’re with somebody that long and you’re used to that goodnight call or text message, it’s hard to go to bed without it,” Brett explains about the idea of writing the song. “I thought, then if you’re in a relationship if you’re married and you live with that person. I know my dad, it’s always strange for him still. They’ve been together for 36 years. If she goes away for like a women’s retreat for the weekend, it’s strange for him to not have her there. And I thought, I think that’s the sweet twist. So, I brought it to Kelly Archer and Justin Ebach, and they loved it. Justin’s a great track guy, so by that night we had a demo and I think we all knew it was pretty special.”
Congratulations to Florida Georgia Line and Tim McGraw on their latest number one song “May We All,” and to Brett Young on “Sleep Without You” becoming his first #1 song!
