The 50th Annual CMA Awards had the worst total viewers since 2010, but the show boosted country music sales in the days after.

One can obviously figure that the Chicago Cubs playing in a historic game 7 of the World Series against the milestone year for the awards show was largely the reason that viewership was down for the 50th CMA Awards. The show garnered 12.5 million viewers while the 2010 show drew 11.7 million. However, the CMA Awards was the highest-rated non-sports related show for the night.

What the show may have lacked in viewership has been balanced out by the boost in sales for the award winners and performers following the show.

According to BuzzAngle Music, country music sales have enjoyed a 37 percent gain after the show with country songs increasing 47 percent in sales after the show.

Performers on the show have enjoyed an even bigger boost from the show. Songs performed on the show have seen an increase of 418 percent. The one song that has seen the biggest impact of post-CMA Awards Show sales has been “Better Man” by Little Big Town. The group’s new single sold more than 39,000 units after their performance on the CMA Awards which translates to an increase of 829 percent in post-show sales.
