Last night (10/25) Jason Aldean flipped the switch for the Opry Goes Pink as he merged his annual concert to benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
Jason decided to merge his 11th annual “Concert For a Cure” with the annual event at the Grand Ole Opry that both bring awareness to the issue of breast cancer. The start of the night featured Jason walking out on stage and flipping the giant switch that changed the lighting on the historic stage to pink. Then, he along with Chris Young, Cassadee Pope, Hillary Scott and the Scott Family and more performed for the audience.
Jason talked about merging the two events. “Every year we try to figure out something that’s a little different than we did the year before,” he explains, “I Mean, what bigger place than the Opry, you know for being a country music singer. What a cool place to come and not only sing, but to be able to do this, you know and be able to merge what we do with what they do and you know try and bring more awareness to it.”
Chris Young explained before taking the stage why it was important for him to be a part of the event last night that raised money and awareness for breast cancer. “Anything that really promotes people’s fight that and dealing with it… My grandmother on my dad’s side actually had breast cancer,” he shared. “So, any chance that I get to be a part of something that’s not only raising awareness but also helping people with the fight for that… Getting to be here on a night that Opry goes pink and obviously getting to be able to roll that in to as well, what Jason does every year with his event um, having it all here and being a part of it was something that was important.”
The event last night raised more than $150,000 for Susan G. Komen and Jason presented the foundation with a check for more than $450,000 raised on his 2016 Six String Circus Tour bringing Jason’s 11-year total for finding a cure to 3.3 million dollars.
Congratulations to Jason Aldean, the Opry and all involved for a very successful event and to Jason on continuing such an amazing effort.
