Last night (10/25) the Knockout Rounds continued on The Voice Season 11 and Blake Shelton had another decision to make for Team Blake.
It was a one-hour episode, so there was only time for a few Knockout Round battles. Blake paired Courtney Harrell with one of the artists he stole during the Battle Rounds, Bendi Liebowtz.
Courtney chose “River Deep, Mountain High” by Tina Turner as her song for this performance. She did as the key advisors Faith Hill and Tim McGraw suggested, started a little more in control before cranking it up and blowing the roof off the place by the end.
Dusty Springfield’s version of “Son of a Preacher Man” was what Bendi decided to perform. Faith and Tim told her to keep it “swampy” to make sure that the audience felt the emotions of the song from beginning to end. She did just that.
While both performances were great and both artists are truly talented, if you have watched The Voice for a while you have heard it said many times, “Song choice is very important to staying on the show.” I believe that was the case in this Knockout Round battle between Courtney and Bendi. While both ladies did a fabulous job performing, it was Courtney’s song that had that “DAYUM” factor to it. I believe that is what ultimately led to Blake’s decision to keep Courtney on Team Blake moving to the live shows.
However, I will make this statement now, I will not be surprised if Blake or one of the other coaches choose Bendi as their “Coach Comeback Artist” later in the season.
