Carrie Underwood just keeps racking up the heavy metal when it comes to album sales and that sets her even further above mark in history for over-all sales.
Carrie’s latest album Storyteller has received the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) Platinum certification. The certification marks the sales of more than one million copies of the project. The album has already produced three #1 singles, “Smoke Break,” “Heartbeat” and “Church Bells.” The current single from the album is called “Dirty Laundry” is in the top 20 on the country singles charts for radio airplay and climbing.
Carrie has set herself apart from the crowd by becoming the RIAA’s highest certified country album artist to debut this since the year 2000. Each of her first four studio albums add Multi-Platinum certifications.
Carrie’s 2005 debut album Some Hearts has reached the 8x Platinum mark. The 2007 album Carnival Ride has reached 4x Platinum, with 2009’s Play On hitting 3x Platinum and Blown Away from 2012 has hit 2x Platinum.
Carrie also holds the honor of being the Top Country Artist (male or female) on RIAA’s Digital Single Ranking with 28 million downloads. This distinction also puts her among the Top 5 females in the history of the RIAA’s Digital Single Program, across all genres.
November 2nd Carrie will again join Brad Paisley to co-host the 50th CMA Awards. This will mark the ninth consecutive year that the two have hosted the annual awards show. The 50th Annual CMA Awards will air live from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena at 7 PM central time (8 PM eastern time) on ABC TV.
Not only will Carrie co-host the show, she will also perform on the program and is nominated in four categories including Female Vocalist of the Year, Album of the Year for Storyteller, Musical Event of the Year with Keith Urban for “The Fighter” and the prestigious and coveted CMA Entertainer of the Year award.
