Last night (10/3) the Blind Auditions came to an end as Blake Shelton and all of the coaches completed their teams on The Voice for season 11.
Blake, Adam Levine and rookie coaches Miley Cyrus and Alicia Keys were all able to bring the total of artists on their teams to 12 each to finalize the Blind Auditions for this season’s competition. You can see which artists joined the other three teams at the NBC The Voice website here. However, below are the three artists that joined #TeamBlake last night.
We learned very little about one of Blake’s new team members since she was part of a four-artist montage on the show. But, via her bio on the show’s website I can tell you that Tarra Layne is a 30-year-old Pittsburgh, PA native that has lived i Nashville and now resides in Los Angeles. She was also Barbie’s singing voice for the song “Strength In Numbers,” which is the theme song for the new Barbie Spy Squad movie. Tarra sang the song “Black Velvet” and became a member of #TeamBlake when Blake was the only coach to turn his chair for her.
For singer-songwriter Blain Long singing a cover song was out of the norm for him. The 35-year-old Parkersburg, WV native has been supporting his family by playing five gigs a week for many years where he plays original songs. Blain sang his version of the John Hiatt song “Have A Little Faith In Me.” The performance was enough to get Blake, Adam and Miley to press their buttons. In the end he chose Blake as his coach for the show.
Courtney Harrell put her own dreams on the back-burner to focus on raising her son. However, the Boston, MA native has moved to Los Angeles to pursue songwriting and her desire of being a singer herself. She has written songs for Chris Brown, Ariana Grande, Jennifer Hudson and more. Her performance of the song “Let It Go” by James Bay (not the Disney song) motivated Blake and Alicia to turn their chairs. Everybody, including Blake, was pretty sure that Courtney would pick Alicia, but in a surprise decision she joined #TeamBlake instead.
Tonight is a “Best Of The Blind Auditions Show” on season 11 of The Voice. That means next Monday (10/10) the Battle Rounds begin with the coaches pairing artists to compete with each other head-to-head with only one artist remaining on their team chosen by the coach. That also means that the “Steal” is back with the other coaches having the chance to get an artist for their team that they didn’t get during the Blind Auditions.
With the two new coaches Miley and Alicia experiencing their first ever Battle Rounds and taking on veteran coaches Blake and Adam, the next few weeks on The Voice Season 11 could be quite interesting and likely extremely entertaining!
