Can you feel the love tonight? The Lion King is feeling the love as Disney announced yesterday that the classic animated flick is going to be remade into a live action movie, similar to this year’s “The Jungle Book” and next year’s “Beauty and the Beast”.

I’m not sure about this. The Lion King WAS MY CHILDHOOD! C’mon, how do you replace James Earl Jones as Mufasa and Jonathan Taylor Thomas and Matthew Broderick as younger and then older Simba? You, simply, can’t. However, if there is one director who can pull this movie off and satisfy the ridiculous expectations I will have, it is Jon Favreau.

Jon Favreau, director of “The Jungle Book” remake, will be at the helm for “The Lion King” as well. He has been a hugely successful director over the last decade or so, directing “Iron Man”, “Iron Man 2”, “Elf”, and many others. You might recognize him from his days on the show “Friends”, where he played Monica’s boyfriend Pete Becker or when he played crazy linebacker Danny Bateman in the movie “The Replacements”.

I will see this movie when it eventually come to theaters, but you better believe I will be skeptical. How do you feel about this? Are you as worried as I am? Tell us how you feel!

Regardless of concerns, one thing is for sure; this movie is going to make TONS of money. There is no word on potential release dates yet, but we will keep you posted!
