Jason Aldean Reacts to CMA Nomination Snub

Last week the nominees for the upcoming 50th Annual CMA Awards Show were announced and names like Jason Aldean, Blake Shelton and Kenny Chesney were not on the list even once. How does Jason feel about the snub from the CMAs?

“Things are gonna happen if they’re gonna happen. There’s nothing I can go do that’s gonna, you know, magically get us nominated next year, or the year after that,” Jason explains. “At this point I feel like I’ve gone out and done everything I can do to put ourselves in a position to be there, and people either vote for you or they don’t.”

Jason is the reigning ACM Entertainer of the Year. He won that award just five months ago. How does he feel about winning the biggest award of the night at the ACM to not even being nominated a handful of months later by the CMA Awards?

“I don’t know why it’s so different from ACMs to CMAs,” Jason confesses. “It just seems to be that way. And, it’s not just this year; it seems to be that way a lot…like a lot over the years. And, you know, when you look at it and it’s like I’m not the only one that got sort of left out of that stuff — Blake and Kenny . And, I don’t think there’s any rhyme or reason to it. It’s just, somebody’s gonna get left out, and it just seems to be us.”

Jason says his competitive nature makes him kind of glad he doesn’t get a nomination if he isn’t going to win the award. “Here’s my thing; if we can’t get enough votes to be nominated, we sure aren’t gonna get enough votes to win, so what’s the point? You know what I mean. Honestly.” he asserts.

“I mean, I’m not a, ‘It’s good to be here guy.’ Like if…I’m just competitive. I wanna win,” Jason admits, “So, if I can barely squeak in just enough votes for a nomination, it’s like…I’d just as soon, if we ain’t gonna win, I’d as soon not be there anyway.”

It is obvious that Jason continues to be one of the hottest names in country music as his concerts sell-out and his albums and singles continue to hit the top of the charts in both sales and radio airplay.

Jason’s seventh studio album titled They Don’t Know will be released this Friday, September 9th. It already features a #1 single, “Lights Come On.” The second single from the album “A Little More Summertime” has already climbed into the top 20 on the country radio airplay singles charts.

I’m sure the success of his concert tours, singles and albums are all the “awards” that Jason really needs.
