Kelsea Ballerini is more than excited about her first ever collaboration as a singer. The fact that it is with Jason Aldean is icing on the cake!
Jason is about to release his new album titled They Don’t Know. The project is set to drop Friday, September 9th and it features a song called “The First Time Again” which he asked Kelsea to sing with him for the album.
To say Kelsea was excited about getting the invitation to collaborate with Jason would be an understatement. “The guy who wrote it texted me and he was like, ‘Hey we have this song that Aldean’s cutting, would you be interested in a duet?’,” she explains. “I was just like, ‘Are you serious? Like absolutely.’ I hadn’t done a collaboration before and I was like, ‘If my first collaboration ever is with the Entertainer of the Year, like what in the world?’.”
When she received the song, she had no doubt that she needed to be a part of this song. “I heard the song it’s called ‘The First Time Again’ and my whole theme the last two years has been the first time,” Kelsea explains referring to her own debut album available everywhere now titled The First Time, “So, it just seemed like it was meant to be immediately.”
Jason explained to NASH Country Daily how the song went from being a solo to a duet with Kelsea, “I originally recorded ‘First Time Again’ with no intent of it being a duet. We were gonna cut it, and I was just gonna sing the song. We kind of listened to it and thought it could very well be a duet, and so then you just start listening around for artists.”
When he heard Kelsea’s latest single he heard what he was listening for in a duet partner for the song. “I had heard Kelsea sing, heard a couple songs she had put out, then heard ‘Peter Pan,’ and there was something different about her voice on it than the other songs she had put out,” Jason shares, “It gave me a chance to really hear her vocals.”
Jason is pleased with the result on the collaboration. “You never know until you get in and hear people’s voices and how they’re gonna mix together,” he confesses. “She came in and nailed her part and did great. Then, also on the background vocals, the stuff she was singing with me sounded great,” Jason admits, “I thought she did amazing. It’s cool be able to pick those people and want to do something like that and have it all come together and sounds great and make the record. It doesn’t always happen, so it’s nice when it works out that way.”
The 7th studio album from Jason Aldean has already produced a number one single with the debut single “Lights Come On” reaching the top of the charts for country radio airplay. The second single from the album is called “A Little More Summertime” and is already in the top 20 on the country radio airplay singles charts.
We will all get to hear Kelsea Ballerini’s first ever collaboration that happens to be with Jason Aldean when his new album They Don’t Know is released in just over a week from now, Friday, September 9th. I am willing to bet that it will be a great sounding song by the two artists.
