Chris Young Celebrates Number One with Cassadee Pope

Chris Young and Cassadee Pope were able to get together in Nashville yesterday (8/16) to celebrate their #1 song “Think Of You.”

In May of this year the duet became Chris’ eighth number one single of his career, but it was the first ever chart topper for Cassadee. The two country music stars got together in Music City with family, friends and industry VIPs to celebrate the success of the song.

Prior to the start of the party, Chris talked about the decision to make the song that he co-wrote with Corey Crowder (far left above) and Josh Hoge (far right above) a duet. “We did debate making this a duet because duets are hard,” Chris admits. “You have to have the right person on the song. And, it was one of the reasons I was very very glad when we asked Cassadee to be on it that she wanted to be part of the song.”

Cassadee was ready to be a part of the song even before she heard it, “Well, I mean, they just asked me to be part of a Chris Young song and I said, ‘Yep!'” She got more excited about the duet after actually hearing the song. “Then, I heard the song and I was immediately like, ‘Gosh, this is such a relate-able song’,” Cassadee explains, “I can see people, you know, listening to that and relating to it, and that’s what a hit song is.”

Obviously Cassadee is still feeling the excitement of her first number one party of her career as this morning she posted the picture and message below to her Twitter page:

Chris got to celebrate more than just the chart topping song last night. He also received a Gold certification plaque to mark the sales of over 500,000 copies of his latest album I’m Comin’ Over that includes the song with Cassadee. He shared a picture of the award on his Twitter page:

The two country singer-songwriters have had the chance to become friends as Cassadee has joined Chris on his “I’m Comin’ Over Tour” this summer which made a stop here in Bloomington-Normal at the Corn Crib Friday, July 22nd.
