Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood are set to co-host the Golden Anniversary of the CMA Awards Show and they talk about the big night with Southern Living magazine.
The co-hosting duo is just shy of a decade guiding the live show with this year being their ninth consecutive year in the roles. However, this year’s show will mark the fifth decade completed for the Country Music Association (CMA) to hand out awards to the best in country music.
The fact that this is the 50th Annual CMA Awards Show and what a huge milestone that is has not been lost on Brad. “It’s a big deal, 50 years. This is the year to show some class,” Brad tells the magazine, adding, “I will be wearing a tuxedo.”
His co-host was happy to hear him say that as she always dresses to the nines on the show. “Woo-ooo!,” Carrie exclaimed during the interview, “Finally, he’ll step it up and match me a little more!”
The main reason that these two stars work so well as co-hosts for the show is their ability to play off each other in the roles that fit their real personalities and the trust they have in each other. “That’s key,” Brad tells the publication, “when you’re standing out there on that tightrope. More than that, what makes a great balance is she has such grace, and I don’t. I’ll say crazy things, and she’ll be the voice of reason.”
Carrie says she has respect for Brad for his enthusiasm in the role he takes on the show, “Brad is willing to make himself the butt of the joke, which you’ve got to respect.”
