ISU Redbirds baseball alum Brock Stewart is set for his Major League Baseball (MLB) debut Wednesday!
A right-handed pitcher, Brock is preparing to make his MLB debut as the Los Angeles Dodgers’ starting pitcher in tomorrow’s (6/29) game at Milwaukee.
Brock will become the ISU baseball program’s 13th alum to play in an MLB game. The Normal, Illinois, native is the first Redbird to make his MLB debut since right-hander Jeremy Accardo pitched an inning of relief for the San Francisco Giants May 4, 2005.
Drafted by the Dodgers in the sixth round of the 2014 MLB Draft, Brock started the 2016 season at Single-A Rancho Cucamonga. He has since been promoted to Double-A Tulsa and Triple-A Oklahoma City. Brock is a combined 8-3 with a 1.47 ERA in 14 starts this season. In his last two games, Brock earned 20 strikeouts with one walk.
Brock played third base during his first three seasons at Illinois State; however, he excelled as a pitcher during his senior year in 2014, earning a 3-2 record and a 2.36 ERA with 30 strikeouts and eight walks.
Good Luck in your MLB debut Brock Stewart! We’re sure you will make your hometown and ISU Redbirds proud!
