Country duo Dan + Shay are enjoying that their latest single “From The Ground Up” is connecting with fans on a personal level.

The song is the debut single from the Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney’s sophomore album Obsessed that was recently released on June 3rd. Dan explains that the song is, “a love song that’s in 6/8 time. That’s great for slow dancing.”

However, it is more than the tempo and music that has taken hold of fans that hear the song. The lyrics and message of the song are motivating people to use the song for a major milestone in their own lives. “We’ve had a lot of people come up and say, ‘Hey, we want to use this as our wedding song or use it to renew our vows,'” Dan shares, “That’s so flattering for us to hear something like that and have our song be such a special moment in their life.”

Dan + Shay not only recorded the song, but they also wrote it. That makes it even more special that fans are connecting with it in their personal lives. “You know, to write those songs and to be able to deliver them to the world is a huge honor and a blessing for us,” Dan shares.

It is a special feeling for the duo to have a song that appears to be headed to the list of perfect wedding songs, “We’re lucky to do it and (we’re) big fans of those love songs,” Dan says.

The single is in the top 15 on the country singles charts for radio airplay and still climbing at #12 on the Mediabase/Country Aircheck chart and #13 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart this week.

The duo is currently out with Darius Rucker on his “Good For A Good Time Tour” along with Michael Ray which will be in St. Louis tomorrow (6/24).
