Kenny Chesney and Miranda Lambert are sharing stage time on tour this summer. However, they say they are more than just tour mates, they are “low-maintenance friends.”
Miranda has been a part of Kenny’s tours before in the past, so when he was looking for somebody to help anchor the stadium dates of his “2016 Spread The Love Tour” it wasn’t difficult for him to choose Miranda.
Besides the fact that she is the reigning ACM Female Vocalist of the Year for the past seven years and CMA Female Vocalist of the Year for six years running now that has a commanding stage presence, Kenny asked her again because of their friendship. “I don’t talk to her every day; we don’t call each other at Christmas,” Kenny told Entertainment Weekly, “But when we see each other, it’s like we never left.”
Miranda also feels that friendship with Kenny that has no pressure, “It’s a low-maintenance friendship. But I’ve learned a lot from him, and every tour I’ve been on, somebody’s learned from him. We take bits and pieces and apply it to our own gigs.”
Miranda’s rise to super-stardom has not gone unnoticed by Kenny though, “…since 2009, she’s become this really important person in the music world,” he says, admitting, “She’s probably the most successful person that’s ever opened for me—she doesn’t have to be out here, but she is.”

The video of Kenny Chesney and Miranda Lambert performing “You And Tequila” above has better audio quality and is from the Jordan Hare Stadium stop on the “2016 Spread The Love Tour” in Auburn, AL. The video below is from the same show and is closer, but the audio isn’t quite as good.
Miranda’s next stadium date with Kenny will be in Louisville, Kentucky, on May 28th and also features special guests Sam Hunt and Old Dominion.
