Toby Keith with honor the legendary Merle Haggard on the upcoming American Country Countdown Awards (ACCAs).

Toby will perform a heartfelt tribute to his friend and music icon know as “The Hag” who passed away on his 79th birthday, April 6, 2016.

Actor Matthew McConaughey will introduce the tribute to the legend which will feature Toby being joined by Merle’s longtime back-up band, The Strangers.

Merle’s widow, Teresa, will attend the ACCAs as well as other members of the family including son Ben who will join The Strangers on stage with Toby for the tribute to his father.

Other performers during the show will include Kelsea Ballerini, Brooks & Dunn, Luke Bryan, Cam, Dan + Shay, Florida Georgia Line, Sam Hunt, Martina McBride, Thomas Rhett, Cole Swindell and Carrie Underwood.

The American Country Countdown Awards will air live from The Forum in Inglewood, California, on May 1st at 7 PM CT/8 PM ET on FOX.
