Keith Urban is gearing up to release a long-awaited new album called RipCORD which features a duet with superstar Carrie Underwood. He has revealed details about that collaboration.
The new album will be Keith’s ninth studio album and is set to drop May 6th. The first two singles from the album (“John Cougar, John Deere, John 3:16” and “Break On Me.”) made it to #1 on the country singles charts.
The third (and current) single “Wasted Time” has already made major jumps up the charts and appears that it will be a chart topper as well.
Keith revealed the track list to the album a week ago which showed that there is a song called “The Fighter” as track eight on the album. Now he has revealed that song is a duet with Carrie.
Keith co-wrote the song with acclaimed song-smith busbee and say that he knew right away that Carrie would be the perfect fit for a collaboration on the song.
“We had written this song, ‘The Fighter,’ that needed a female voice,” Keith explains, continuing, “Carrie’s voice immediately came to mind. I can’t wait for people to hear it – and hope that we get to do it live.”
This is not the first time the two country music superstars have sung together. “Carrie and I toured together a few years ago and every night we’d do a song together. I’ve always loved singing with her,” Keith said.
They also combined voices last night (4/7) on the season 15 American Idol Finale on the classic rock hit song “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around” by Stevie Nicks & Tom Petty. You can watch that performance here.
I can’t wait to hear the Keith Urban duet with Carrie Underwood “The Fighter” and the entire new RipCORD album from Keith when it is released May 6th!
