Blake Shelton has released the debut single “Came Here To Forget” from his forthcoming, untitled album.

The song was not written by Blake, but when you listen to the words you might think it was. When you consider the end of his and Miranda Lambert‘s marriage last year and his new relationship with fellow coach from The Voice Gwen Stefani, thinking Blake had a hand in the creation of the song is not a big step at all.

Blake does say that this song gives a “direct look” into his life although it was written by Craig Wiseman and Deric Ruttan.

He also says that the entire new project will provide a glimpse into his personal world. “I’m in a really good place in my life and a very reflective place in my life,” Blake revealed to The Tennessean, adding, “This record represents the last 12 months of things that I’ve gone through and things that have happened to me and things that have happened for me. I’ve never been more proud of a body of work.”

Fans seem to be liking the new song from Blake as it has risen to #1 on the iTunes Country Chart and #5 on the iTunes all-genre chart as of 10:24 AM this morning. There is not a release date yet for the new album.

Blake continues on season 10 of The Voice as a coach and will be hosting the 2016 Kids’ Choice Awards this Saturday night, March 12th on Nickelodeon.

Blake will also have an exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame that will open May 27th and run through November 6th.
