There is a new kid-friendly search engine that promises to all but eliminate the possibility of your child stumbling upon Kim Kardashian’s sex tape or Miley Cyrus’ VMA performance, especially while you are busy cooking dinner for the family.
If you’ve ever checked the search history of your kid’s laptop or iPad and found entries such as “boobs” or “sex” and you don’t know whether to blame your son or your husband, well there is great news for you!
It’s called Kiddle!
The internet may make homework a breeze for youngsters, but many parents worry their children may stumble across something inappropriate when searching online, and let’s face it, they probably have. In comes Kiddle. Kiddle offers search results hand-picked by editors to ensure their kid-friendliness, blocks explicit search terms such as ‘porn’, and even certain celebrities whose names could lead to adult content.
I decided to try it with “butt”, “boobs” and “sex”…
The mad angry robot tells me it’s not a good word, and Kiddle has your back!
It’s also a great filter. For example, your kid is probably obsessed with Justin Bieber. That’s great, but you’d rather not have your kid find out about the time his “Action Jackson” ended up naked on the internet. Kiddle’s search will only display family-friendly stuff about the Biebs, and leave the douchery to the adults. Now that I think about it, maybe I will use Kiddle to.
You are an amazing parent, but you can’t be everywhere, all the time. Even the best parental controls can’t stop your kids from accidentally seeing a little side boob here or there, maybe technology is changing for the better. And hopefully you can cook your dinner in peace without having to worry about your son or daughter finding “Girls Gone Wild” videos while doing a school project on the Rain Forrest.
