Singer-songwriter Granger Smith has scored his first number one single with “Backroad Song” on the Billboard Country Airplay chart.
Granger has been making music for quite a while now. He has released albums since 1998 and singles since 2008 independently. However, he was signed to Wheelhouse Records, a part of the Broken Bow Records (BBR) Music Group for his forthcoming new studio album Remington.
The lead single from that album is called “Backroad Song” and according to the advanced Billboard Country Airplay chart is this week’s top song and the first #1 of Granger’s career.
How does Granger feel about hitting the top of the charts after so many years chasing his dream? “How do I put this into words? Having a #1 song has been a lifelong dream of mine and to achieve this as both a writer and a singer is surreal,” Granger shares, adding, “It has been a long road, but such a great adventure and I have so many team members to thank for that. I’m feeling pretty blessed right now.”
The timing of his first number one couldn’t be much better as Remington is set to be released March 4th. Granger will be making some national TV appearances following the release of the new album including NBC’s Today Show March 8th, FOX News Channel’s Fox & Friends March 9th and ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live March 22nd, where he’ll perform on the outdoor stage.
Granger has an alter ego he calls “Earl Dibbles Jr.” who has his own Twitter account, Facebook page and even website. Earl Dibbles Jr. has his own music and videos to check out.
