Many would name Luke Bryan as one of, if not THE most successful artist in country music right now. That raises the question, what is Luke’s definition of success?
Luke is the reigning CMA and ACM Entertainer of the Year. Is winning those awards (and others) what Luke needs to consider himself a success?
“I don’t see my career as checking off goals, you know ‘I did win the CMA Entertainer of the Year now I can just sit on my porch and watch the sun go down every night’,” Luke states. He then explains further, “I mean my main thing if I don’t ever win another one … It never defined me to get there and it won’t define me after.”
Luke’s duet with Little Big Town‘s Karen Fairchild called “Home Alone Tonight” is spending a second week at #1 on the country singles charts this week. The single has become Luke’s 15th consecutive number one single. It is from his latest #1 album Kill The Lights which has been certified Gold and is approaching the Platinum status with over 881,000 copies sold. His concert tours continue to sell out arenas and sports stadiums across the country.
Are these the accomplishments it takes to make Luke feel like he fits the definition of success?
“I truly feel like whenever the peak of the mountain is here and I’m on the other slope of it, I think I’m truly gonna walk in to whatever venue I’m at, plug in a guitar or stand up there with a microphone and probably enjoy it the same way,” Luke reveals, adding, “If I can then that’s the definition of success and kinda the way I read into it.”
Right now Luke is likely going to keep winning awards, scoring #1 singles and albums and selling out concerts in arenas like his “Kill The Lights Tour” stop at the Peoria Civic Center Friday, February 19th.
B104 will have more tickets to the sold-out Luke Bryan concert to give-a-way next week (2/15-2/19) so keep listening for details!
