Chris Stapleton continues to gain traction on a major level as he will be featured for the first time as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live (SNL).
The singer-songwriter has been experiencing a major boost to his career as the final two months of 2015 has been a whirlwind of exposure. It started with his surprise wins at the CMA Awards last November and his collaborative performance with Justin Timberlake live that stole the show. Following his wins in the CMA Male Vocalist, Album of the Year and New Artist of the Year categories and that amazing performance his album Traveller surged to the top of the Billboard sales charts.
Now SNL reveals that Chris will make his first appearance on the show as the musical guest January 16th. The show posted the picture on the right on their website to reveal Chris as the musical guest the same night Star Wars: The Force Awakens star Adam Driver makes his first appearance as guest host.
All of the recognition is not being lost on Chris. “You kinda make records, but you don’t know exactly what’s gonna happen and that’s part of the fun of it. But then nothing I could have thought would have happened would be as good as what this year (2015) has been so,” he says, continuing, “I’m just gonna try to enjoy the moment of it as much as I can ’cause you know you get busy doing things and going and sometimes it takes a minute to step back and go, ‘Hey this is really great we’re getting to do all these wonderful things,” and so I’m just gonna try to enjoy that as much as I can because it may never ever happen again. So we’re just thankful for it.”
2016 could be another milestone year for Chris as he is nominated for Grammy awards for Best Country Album for Traveller, Best Country Solo Performance for “Traveller” and Best Country Song for “Traveller.” The 58TH Annual Grammy Awards will air live from Los Angeles’ Staples Center on CBS February 15th.
If you have tickets to the Jason Aldean “We Were Here Tour” concert at US Cellular Coliseum for Saturday night January 16th, you will want to set your DVR to record Chris Stapleton as he makes his SNL debut that night.
