Blake Shelton says that his 2015, both good and bad, is reflected in his new album and fans might get some insight into his divorce when they hear the project.
Blake recently spent some time with Lon Helton as a co-host on the Country Countdown USA. During that show the two talked about a lot of things including the new album country music singer-songwriter has been working on. “I’ve written more than I’ve written in 15 years, for obvious reasons — all the awful things that have happened in my personal life — but the way the year has ended it’s also the greatest year of my life. It’s been an unbelievable experience this year,” Blake revealed.
Obviously his highly publicized divorce from fellow country music superstar Miranda Lambert tops the “awful things” list. Most would speculate that his new relationship with fellow coach from “The Voice” Gwen Stefani might be what he is referring to as the main reason his year has ended as “the greatest.”
Blake was asked what made the year great to which he responded, “I better not talk about THAT just yet, but sometimes you just never know who’s in your life that can save you. I found out some people in my life that have changed my life, forever. Some it’s been bad and some it’s been really good.”
“I’m doing what I’m supposed to do as a country artist, and that’s taking all of that experience that I’ve had this year and putting it into music.” Blake continued, adding, “I’m taking my life and putting it into music, I’ve never felt more connected to a record before.”
When it comes to his divorce, Blake says, “When people hear this record, they may not know what happened to me, but they’re gonna know how I felt about what happened to me. And that’s exciting for me, to just lay it out there for people.”
Blake says that he has already cut a lot of the music he has written, “If I got hit by a bus today, when I walk out of the studio they [the record label] would have an album.”
Blake is ready to get a new single out from the new project soon, “I hope to have a new single out in January. I want to get it out there. It’s driving me nuts to not be already into that project because it’s all I’m thinking about.”
Blake also says that he is hoping that the new as-yet unnamed studio album will come out in May. He says that is when fans, “can be knowing, if they’re interested, what I’ve been going through, the good and bad.”
I for one am looking forward to this new project from Blake.
