Dierks Bentley gathered with his friends to start the New Year with his traditional polar plunge in Nashville.
The country singer-songwriter has been taking part in this tradition for 14 years now. He goes to a lake in the Nashville area January 1st and takes a cold plunge. Last year Dierks used the annual plunge to announce who he would be taking with him on tour for 2015.
This year Dierks simply gathered some friends and got wet and cold. The video of the event posted to People.com (which you can watch below) shows Dierks saying, “Lake jump 2016. This is ridunkulous but we’re doing it anyway. I don’t know why we do this, but we do it.”
One of his friends explains, “We do it to wash off the old and breathe in the new.”
Dierks ended 2015 being named as Luke Bryan‘s new co-host for the ACM Awards Show.
While I’m sure the water in Nashville is cold January 1st, I’m sure it is not as cold as the water here in Bloomington-Normal in February when we do our annual Polar Plunge for Special Olympics. If you would like to either join our team or support one of our team members for the 2016 Polar Plunge for Special Olympics just CLICK HERE.
I applaud Direks Bentley for doing his annual polar plunge just because. However, I officially challenge him to join the Radio Bloomington Team for a truly POLAR Plunge February 27th for a great cause! #FreezinForAReason
