As we prepare to say goodbye to 2015 and welcome the New Year, let’s take a look at which country music artists scored #1 singles at country radio this past year.
2015 was full of a lot of great songs. Country music superstars traveled to the top of the charts to add to their career number ones and some new artists got to find out what it is like to have a number one song for the first time in their careers.
Kenny Chesney, Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line and Thomas Rhett all scored three chart toppers on either the Billboard Country Radio Airplay chart, Mediabase/Country Aircheck chart or both to add to their musical resume. Blake Shelton also added three number ones to his list of 21 for his career and keep his record setting string of consecutive #1 songs alive and extend the total to 16!
Eric Church, Jason Aldean, Brett Eldredge, Cole Swindell, The Zac Brown Band, Sam Hunt, Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood climbed to the top of the charts with a pair of singles each in 2015.
20 other country artists were able to score a #1 song in 2015 including first time chart topping artists like A Thousand Horses, Kelsea Ballerini, Michael Ray, Old Dominion, Dan + Shay and Cam to name a handful.
There were a total of 49 country singles that were able to reach the number one spot during 2015. If you ask me that’s a pretty good total for 52 weeks. It also makes me feel like country music is alive and thriving with many voices connecting with the fans since those songs were sung by 33 different artists.
