The Chicago Blackhawks are in the NHL Coors Light Stadium Series on Sunday, February 21st at 2:30pm. They’ll be playing the Minnesota Wild outdoors at TCF Bank Stadium and if you’re an NHL historian you’ll remember the longtime rivalry that the Blackhawks had with the first NHL franchise in Minnesota called the North Stars.

The Minnesota Wild didn’t forget either as the annual alumni game which is played the day before on Saturday, February 20th at 2:30pm. The Wild has decided to bring back the Minnesota North Stars jersey for the matchup. This will also include many former North Stars including Neal Broten. This has Dallas Stars fans a little disturbed as that is part of their history in Dallas when the franchise moved there in 1993.

The NHL did give them permission as the NHL knows the type of players that will come back on both sides to play in the alumni game. The Chicago Blackhawks and the Minnesota North Stars had many bench clearing brawls over the years due to that heated rivalry and we wonder if any old bad blood will ensue. I’m sure the age and the pain factor will decide that.

We won’t see anything like this, but watch how heated some of these matchups were as The Hawks and North Stars clear the benches for Old Time Hockey.
