Carrie Underwood debuted at #1 on the Billboard Country Album sales chart with Storyteller and Blake Shelton showed up just behind her with his latest greatest hits package.
Carrie’s fifth studio album moved 177,000 units (164,000 in pure album sales) according to Billboard. That total was enough to not only have Storyteller make the number one debut on the Billboard Country Album sales chart, it also gave Carrie the #2 album on the Billboard 200 all-genre chart.
That debut makes Carrie the only country artist to have their first five albums debut at either #1 or #2 on the Billboard 200 chart. Some Hearts, her first studio album, debuted at #2 on the chart with the next three studio albums (Carnival Ride, Play On, Blown Away) all debuting at #1 on the chart.
Blake Shelton released his second greatest hits package entitled Reloaded: 20 #1 Hits. The package moved 40,000 units (33,000 in pure album sales) to make it’s debut at #2 on the Billboard Country Album sales chart. The first week’s total was also enough to give Blake his ninth top 10 album on the Billboard 200 all-genre chart as the project debuted at #5 this week on the chart.
The package contains all 20 of Blake Shelton’s #1 singles and his current single “Gonna” which is in the top 10 and still climbing on the Billboard Country Radio Airplay singles chart.
Congratulations to Carrie Underwood and Blake Shelton on their big Billboard album debuts this week!
