The Country Music Association (CMA) has announced another unique collaboration for the 49th CMA Awards Show, Keith Urban will join forces with John Mellencamp on stage.
The annual awards show is known for bringing artists from all genres together with some of country music’s biggest names for one-of-a-kind performances and this year the tradition continues. Keith Urban will take the stage with one of the biggest icons in music John Mellencamp.
The announcement did not indicate what the two would be singing together. Keith’s latest hit-single is called “John Cougar, John Deer, John 3:16.” The song refers to Keith’s special performance partner as John Mellencamp went by the name “John Cougar” when he first began his career at the instance of his record label. He never liked the name and wanted to just use his real name which he transitioned to over the years. It’ll be interesting to see if he joins Keith on that song or another song.
Earlier this week the CMA announced that Kelsea Ballerini, Miranda Lambert, Kacey Musgraves and show co-host Carrie Underwood would be performing on the CMA Awards Show. They also previously revealed that the show will feature collaborative performances with Eric Church joined by Hank Williams Jr. and Thomas Rhett joined by Fall Out Boy. More performers for the show will be revealed in the coming weeks.
The 49th Annual CMA Awards Show will start at 7pm central time Wednesday, November 4th and air live on ABC TV from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena.
