Zac Brown says the he and the members of the band worked harder on their current album Jekyll + Hyde than they have on any of their previous albums.
To date it appears that the hard work has paid off for the Zac Brown Band. Back in May of this year Jekyll + Hyde debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 all-genre and Country Album sales chart. The album has also already produced two #1 singles in a row with “Homegrown” and “Loving You Easy.”
So, how did work on the album begin? Zac shares, “After we played a show this last year, we’d get on the bus and we’d write until four or five in the morning, and try to get the songs done and gather the songs, the best batch of songs that we had to come into this album.”
Next it was time to pick the best songs from their work, “We narrowed it down to about 21 songs, and once we got in we started recording them and we ended up with 16,” Zac says. The group also put the time in to make sure they would perform the songs right, “We spent a full week down at the beach arranging the record with all the guys getting all the harmony right, getting everything ready.”
Once everything was prepared musically and mentally, the group headed to the studio to put it all together with the same attention to details, “We spent four months in the studio recording it, and we’ve never spent that much time working on the album and I think that you can tell on this one,” Zac shares, adding, “There’s that much detail on every single one of these songs, so you really have to listen to it a bunch of times to really kind of catch all the different nuances of what’s happening.”
