Luke Bryan‘s new album Kill The Lights is spending a second week at the #1 spot on the Billboard 200 all-genre chart.

The second week of sales tallied over 99,000 copies sold for Luke’s fifth studio album. That was enough for the project to retain the top spot on the Billboard 200 chart and obviously as a result the number one spot on the Billboard Country Album sales chart as well.

It has been two years since a country album has held the top spot on the Billboard 200 chart for more than one week. The last album to achieve the mark was Luke’s previous album Crash My Party in 2013.

What does Luke think about his own new album? “I was having a blast singing these songs and always pushing myself vocally to become a better recording artist,” Luke says, adding, “I still, you know up until maybe Crash My Party and this album, I’ve always felt like a live singer. Now I feel like I’ve become an even more solid recording artist.”

Kill The Lights first week sales was 345,000 copies. If you combine that with the second week’s sales the grand total is already over 444,000 copies sold for Luke’s latest album. At this pace Kill The Lights should reach the Gold certification mark of 500,000 copies sold in the next week or two.

Congratulations to Luke Bryan on spending a second week at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart with Kill The Lights.
