Kenny Chesney continues to break records for attendance on his “Big Revival Tour.” The latest broken record was set by Pink Floyd more than two decades ago.
Saturday night, August 1st Kenny was in Kansas City, Missouri for his stadium tour stop at Arrowhead Stadium, home of the Kansas City Chiefs. Kenny was able to attend practice with the Chiefs the day before the concert (Friday, 7/31).
Kenny posted the picture above on his Twitter account during the day Saturday as final preparations were being made for the concert that night that also featured Jason Aldean as a co-headliner and special guests Brantley Gilbert, Cole Swindell and Old Dominion.
Before taking the stage at Arrowhead Stadium Kenny didn’t know he had eclipsed the attendance record set by Pink Floyd in 1994 of 56,134. Kenny sang to a record audience of 57,368 Saturday night. The country singer-songwriter was in disbelief when he was told of his new record, “Pink Floyd are rock icons. Every kid’s high school experience… I never ever would’ve thought something like that could happen.”
What Kenny did know was that the audience was filled with electricity. He could tell that when the fans began cheering during the intro film before he took the stage. The noise level rose so much that he could barely hear the music from the film and that excitement level continued all night. “It felt like being at the bottom of a mountain, and an avalanche just kept rolling over you. The energy, the heart, the passion had that much force and it didn’t let up – not once all night,” Kenny shared.
Kenny brought his co-headliner out to sing a few songs together. A fan captured Kenny and Jason singing Kenny’s hit song “She Thinks My Tractor’s Sexy.” You can watch the video of the performance below which also shows the two country stars putting on Kansas City Chiefs jerseys with their names on them.
Kenny and Jason will co-headline again for another “Big Revival Tour” stadium concert at Denver’s Sports Authority Stadium at Mile High this Saturday (8/8).
