Country music new comer Cam is connecting with fans across the country with the message in her single “Burning House.”
Her full name is Camaron Marvel Ochs, but she is simply known as Cam. She grew up in California in the San Francisco area where she grew her love of country music with influences like Patsy Cline, Bonnie Raitt, and Willie Nelson which she was exposed to while spending time at her grandparents ranch in Oceanside, California.
Cam has written songs for other artists including “Fall Madly in Love with You,” a track from Maggie Rose’s debut album Cut to Impress, as well as “Maybe You’re Right” from Miley Cyrus‘ album Bangerz. Now the singer-songwriter is enjoying success with her own music from her debut album Welcome To Cam Country.
Cam’s current single “Burning House” has jumped up to #29 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart in the short three weeks it has been on the chart. The single is also starting to motivate people to own it as the single has sold 42,274 copies according to Soundscan’s Digital Songs chart. This week alone that sales have increased 141% with sales of 13,228 copies.
Cam is also feeling the reach of the song at live concerts all around the country. She reveals how one fan told her the song connected with her; “I remember playing it at one show, and a girl came up, and she said, ‘Oh, my God, I cried during ‘Burning House,’‘ which is a normal thing to hear, and I went to give her a hug, and she said, ‘My burning house is here. He’s right over there, and he’s with another girl.’ And I, I wanted to cry for her ’cause I knew exactly what she meant. Like, we’ve never met before, but because she heard this song, now we know how each other feels on such a really deep level like you don’t…you talk to a couple friends maybe about how that goes. And now, me and this girl, you know, have that connection on such a deep level. It’s nothing short of phenomenal that music can connect people in that way.”
