Kelsea Ballerini has taken her debut single “Love Me Like You Mean It” to the #1 spot on the Billboard chart.
The advanced Billboard Country Airplay chart has been released and the 21-year-old country singer-songwriter is in the #1 spot on the chart. The song is Kelsea’s debut single from her debut album The First Time available everywhere.
A Tennessee native who grew up in Knoxville, Kelsea was named one of CMT’s Next Women of Country in 2014. She was also nominated for Breakthrough Video of the Year for her video for her now number one song at the 2015 CMT Music Awards. You can watch that video below.
This is the first #1 country song by a solo female artist of 2015.
The collaboration Blake Shelton released with Ashley Monroe “Lonely Tonight” hit #1 at the beginning of March earlier this year. Just last week (6/15) Kenny Chesney scored a #1 song with Grace Potter on the song “Wild Child.”
However, the other 20 #1 songs so far this year have been either by a male country singer, male country duo/group or a collaboration from two male country artists.
