They are remaking “Point Break” one of my favorite movies and the new movie trailer gives us a look at the new adventure.

The original 1991 movie starred Patrick Swayze, Keanu Reeves and Gary Busey. Swayze’s character “Bodhi” lead a crew of surfers that robbed banks in California to fund their endless summer of surfing around the world. FBI agents “Johnny Utah” (Reeves) and “Pappas” (Busey) were tasked with the mission of capturing the bank robbers dubbed the “Dead Presidents” because of the masks they wore during the heists.

The 2015 remake of the movie stars Teresa Palmer, Luke Bracey and Édgar Ramírez. In this remake the crew of robbers are led again by “Bodhi” (Ramírez) and again pursued by FBI agent “Johnny Utah” (Bracey). However, it appears that the scale of crime has been ratcheted up to a global scale for this version of the movie.

I am not usually one that is too excited about remakes of movies, especially when I liked the original so much. However, based on the movie trailer for the new “Point Break” I am kind of excited about this one. They have changed the storyline enough to make it new, but appear to have held enough of the original so that it is not a completely different movie. The new movie also appears to have more extreme stunts and camera shots of those stunts.

I look forward to the release of “Point Break” this Christmas (December 25th).
